As tribes continue to effectively manage their land and natural resources, the need for education and sharing of information between Native nations is greater than ever. NTLA seeks to work in harmony with tribal nations to create opportunities for land and natural resources staff to learn, share and network with their colleagues from other tribes.
Each year NTLA and the Indian Land Tenure Foundation co-host the annual Tribal Land Staff National Conference. This national conference helps to meet the need for educational opportunities on the latest issues facing tribes as well as providing an opportunity to network with others working on land-related issues in Indian Country. By developing those relationships with others doing similar work in other areas of the country, tribal land staff are able to gain important insights into managing reservations resources.
The more we learn, the more needs we see that must be addressed. With the involvement of tribal land professionals from across Indian Country we will all continue to learn and grow. We encourage you to get involved and take full advantage of the opportunities that NTLA offers.

Mission & Goals
The National Tribal Land Association started as a vision of what Indian Country could become if those individuals working for tribes in a land-related position had opportunities to come together for learning, sharing, collaborating and networking with one another. As we continue to grow, our mission and goals stand true to the needs of tribal land professionals.
NTLA History
NTLA was started by a devoted group of tribal land professionals from across Indian County who came together after the 1st Tribal Land Staff National Conference in 2011. These volunteers formed a Steering Committee to work with Indian Land Tenure Foundation staff to plan and host the 2012 conference. This group expanded after the 2012 conference and met monthly to create the framework for a national association to meet the needs of tribal land professionals.
